About this QuickTip

Imagine drafting and sending an entire email without typing a single word. That's Write with Siri in iOS 27, which sits right above your iPhone keyboard (or answers to "Hey Siri") and uses onscreen awareness to know exactly what you're writing. I'll show you how I put it to the test live, asking for a full email to a colleague in one natural request, and why I'd still always proofread before tapping send.

Write with Siri is a new feature in iOS 27 that lets you write letters, documents, emails, and messages using your natural voice by instructing Siri. Let me show you how it works.

And before I do - if you're new around here, hello! I'm Jacob, your friendly Apple expert here on YouTube, helping you make the most of your devices.

Okay, so I'm in Mail right now, and I want to email Peter to let him know about the meeting we've got booked in for Friday. I can tap on the screen and then, above the keyboard, tap Write with Siri - or I can just say "Hey Siri" and start talking to my device, because we have this new concept of onscreen awareness. Siri knows I'm writing a message, and I can insert text straight into the message body.

So: "Hey Siri, I'm having a meeting with Peter on Friday, and I want you to send him an invitation via email to remind him. It's really important he brings his phone with him, and the notes we talked about in our last meeting. Could you make the subject line 'Important Reminder'?" Then, when I'm ready, I can send it later.

I'll give Siri a moment or two to work - and just like that, it's drafted a message. It's created an email draft to Peter with the subject "Important Reminder."

Of course, I can make as many changes as I want, and I'll always proofread it and make some edits - I'm never just going to tap send blindly. But you can see how much work is done there for me.

So I'd urge you to give it a try. Forget what you know about Siri so far, and really see what Siri AI is capable of.
