About this QuickTip

Want your Genmoji to look exactly like you? In iOS 26, you can now fine-tune the details, change accessories, and even give text instructions for extra precision. Here’s how to make your personalised emoji better than ever.

Transcript

For a while now, we’ve been able to create our own Genmoji using photographs of ourselves as a starting point. So, I could make an emoji of myself wearing a blue scarf and a blue hat, and it would have a fairly good likeness to me as a person in that emoji form.

Well, in iOS 26, we can now really fine-tune this to get better results than we could before.

To do this, I’m going to tap on my picture in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and then choose the person I want to customise.

On the customisation screen, I can swipe between different starting points just like before - but now there’s a new option underneath that will let me fine-tune the details to get a better likeness of myself.

When you tap Customise Appearance on the Genmoji that looks most like you, you can change your hair, facial hair, and eyewear.

For each of these, you can make adjustments - shorter or curlier hair, remove or add facial hair, change glasses style and colour - and Genmoji will regenerate the preview at the top. It takes a couple of moments, but through the magic of editing we can speed that up.

I don’t think the full beard looks very good, so I’m going to toggle back to no change. This is a quick and easy way to fine-tune your Genmoji.

At the bottom, there’s also an option to type into a text box to give more specific instructions. For example, if my glasses should be a different colour - let’s go for teal - I can type that in, and when it regenerates my Genmoji, it will now have teal glasses.

When you press the tick in the top corner, it will save those changes to your preferred character. That becomes the basis for new Genmoji in the future, making them look even more like you.

And don’t forget - in this update, we can also combine different emoji to make your perfect Genmoji that way instead. I’ve made a whole other video on that, and there are dozens more videos about iOS 26 on my channel - so go and check them out and make sure you subscribe while you’re there. I’ll see you next time.
